Hi!

I used to have my ident(s) ok. I just rebooted machine and connecting to a server is very slow and all my idents begin with ~ now. I get NO IDENT RESPONSE FROM SERVER. What changed that? I cant fix it by myself. I also checked topics here. No help Here is quote from my client:

[17:32:53] * Connecting to 216.32.207.207 (6667)
[17:32:54] -216.32.207.207- *** Looking up your hostname...
[17:32:54] -216.32.207.207- *** Checking Ident
[17:32:54] -216.32.207.207- *** Found your hostname
[17:33:24] -216.32.207.207- *** No Ident response

Client "stays" waiting the identd but its blocked. Port 113 is open. Nothing changed on PC only one reboot and here is the result.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Maybe it timed out due to lag?
Try to reconnect to the server.

Are you behind a router?
If so, is port 113 forwarded to your
machine or set up for triggering?

Running a firewall?
If so, is port 113 set as an exception or is
mIRC set to be allowed to act as a server?

Hi!

No router. No lag. Firewall is wide open for mIRC.

Could be the server itself is lagging and not you?
Have you tried another server?

The problem with the beginning of the ident (the "~" symbol) is easily solved. When the option "Use ID from email address" i ON this happens. Go to the mIRC Options dialog (ALT+O) Then click the plus node on the "Connect" category but usually the category is expanded if you have made previous changes. So go to the "Ident" sub-category and uncheck "Use ID from email address" then specify your ident i the field above the chekbox. And about the Ident response... Don't worry about that. I've got the same message "No ident response received" and everything works.

Hi!

It was Nortons WMI update for Win Xp SP2. It will screw your firewall settings. WMI comes via LiveUpdate.

I WAS using Norton Internet Security 200 Pro. Not anymore.

Thanks for replies,
