Am i able to minimize mIRC to my system tray, i used to use hix script which would minimize by default, i just cant seem to find this option in mIRC. any help would be great, thanks.

Sure you can - You can do it by the command line by typing /showmirc -t or you can have mIRC automatically minimise to the system tray when you minimise mIRC by going to:

ALT+O > Display > Options > [Tray...]

..check the box that says 'Please mIRC in tray when minimized'.

thx and also how could i get my channels to be on the left hand side, instead of the top. thanks for your reply.

On the far left of the switchbar there is a little "grip" line - click on it and keep the mouse button held down whilst you drag the switchbar to the left hand side of your screen - then release.

You can also press and hold the SHIFT key while minimizing the client from the taskbar or the icon bar at the top right of the mIRC window.
