Hey guys I was wondering how do you do nick copy when you in a chat room, so if u want to talk to that nick. there name copies in the box where u type message.

You can copy text by using the mouse. Click at the start, drag to the end, and when you release the text has been copied. Ctrl+V will paste it in the "editbox" where you type in the channel.

mIRC provides a nice feature called nick completion though that's a lot easier. Type "z" in any channel I'm in, then press TAB until it reads "zaz" where you only typed "z". Type in the first character or few characters of a nick, and the TAB list will cycle through all nicks in the channel in alphabetical order.

what do u mean click at the start?

That means go to the beginning of the text you want to copy, so from the first letter of the sentence, to the last letter.

Let's say you wanted to copy this sentence:

Arnie ate too many cookies.

You'd click at the 'A' and keep the mouse button held down, and drag it to the end where the little period (.) is. In Internet Explorer (probably your web browser) this will not copy, you need to RIGHT click the text and click on 'copy' from the menu. In mIRC however, as soon as you highlight text and let go, it copies the text. You can then press CTRL+V to paste it.

It seems that was more of a sidenote for copying, your question seemed to relate to the TAB nick completor function that zaz described above. As another example of it, if you type 'Me' in a channel that I'm in, and then press the TAB key, it will complete to 'Mentality' automatically. (Note: Not with the colours, that was just to make it clear).

...and if the channel has the users "Mellie" and "Meatball" in it, when you press TAB you will first get Meatball, then Mellie, and finally Mentality. TAB again will put you back to the start of the 3, so long as those are the only nicks starting with "ME". It will "cycle" all the nicks in alphabetical order.
