Hi IzzyLeft,

You can find some good examples in the help file, type /help remote and you will see some good examples, the bit your looking for is under on join.

Heres a small sample you can use to get the general idea in the meantime. wink

;when someone joins your channel, send them a simple greeting
on 1:join:#yourchannel: msg $nick hello welcome to my channel!

Just change the #yourchannel to the name of your channel including the # prefix i.e. #Dizzystub
also change the message after $nick to whatever you want.

Hope that helps!
Best regards,
Diz

Will they see the greeting even if I am not connected?

Hi IzzyLeft,

The quick short answer is no. I dont want to appear rude, but I'm guessing you dont have a lot of experience with computers in general, let alone mIRC?

May I suggest you do some reading through the help files in windows? That may sound like I'm passing judgement, but believe me it will help you greatly in the long run. wink

You should get to know the basics a the very least, but having said that I'm all in favour of the 'jump in and see what happens' aproach too. A lot of people pick things up that way also, but my concern is you will unknowingly pick up a virus or someone will trick you into accepting one.

There are a lot of really nasty people out there!!!
I hope you take this post the way it was meant and dont take offense, I'm merely pointing out the dangers!

Best regards,
Diz

Hi there may be a way of making your own room greet people who join even if you are not online. I would suggest you go to the networks help room to see if your network/services supports this.

Good luck
