It's good practice to use more than one trojan scanner or antivirus because they have different methods of scanning. While one AV might detect nothing, others may find 2/3 trojans on your computer. Take a look at the Trojan resources post.

It's a good idea to observe some of these guidelines for future reference:

- NEVER accept files from people on IRC. Only accept files from trusted friends, 'trusted' meaning you've known them for months if not years, not because they've been nice to you for a few hours.

- NEVER go to URLs (website addresses) which are advertised to you on IRC. This includes "Free" pornography, free pictures of Britney Spears in the nude, pictures of people etc.

- NEVER type suspicious things that people tell you to type, especially if they contain //write $decode or any other long form of what appears to be a jumble of letters and numbers.

- ALWAYS have an antivirus installed on your computer. If they have auto-protect features then have it enabled.

- ALWAYS have the latest updates from www.windowsupdate.com.

- ALWAYS have the latest version of your software. mIRC is an important one to have updated to avoid any exploits that may be found. You can always get the most up to date version at www.mirc.com/get.html.

The ban from Quakenet will also not expire just because you clean your computer, as it has no way of knowing you have done so. Instead, the ban (called a G-Line) will last a certain length of time (usually 1-2 days). After this time, you should be able to get back online. If you haven't cleaned yourself properly then you will be G-Lined again. If not, in theory, you should remain online.

If you do find nothing on your computer and/or clean yourself thoroughly, and yet continue to be G-Lined for a trojan infection, see this FAQ. We at these boards are not officially affiliated to any channel, server or network - it is ONLY Quakenet that can help you with Quakenet G-Lines.

Best of luck!

Regards,

difficult to help you unless we know what type of trogen its saying your infected with

type /remote off (incase its detecting a backdoor in your script and calling it a trogen) .. i doubt that will work but without knowing what its detecting its rather difficult to track

perhaps someone knows a site that scans for such things and gives instructions on how to take care of it, or at least identifyes it.

you could always email the admins of that network (if u know how to contact them) and try to figure things out that way.
