A channel is a chat room that exists on the IRC server. Channels are usually preceded with '#' - like #mIRC.

Servers are what you connect to with your IRC client (mIRC). They allow you to join channels.

If you want to setup your own server, then you might want to read this page or this post. UnrealIRCD is a very popular IRCd which works on Windows (most IRCds don't work on Windows). There are some wIRCds (Windows Internet Relay Chat daemons) listed here.

If you're looking to create a channel you might want to check out this thread or this thread, they both have sound advice to follow.

You could also run a Search on these Forums - expand to 'All Forums' and 'All Posts' for best results. Keep the search term as short and precise as possible.

Have fun smile
