Hello I am new to this whole irc chat? I just installed mirc the trial version. I was happy to c how fast the files i downloaded in chat went this past week when i installed it. however after the 1st two days I noticed a significant drop in the speed of the downloads. I have a cable modem and at 1st everything downloaded at between 200-300kps. However now I am lucky if it even approaches 10kps. What happened? I was thinking about purchasing Mirc after the 30 day trial but if this is how it is going to be i think i will pass.

DCC speeds are dependent on several factors including the connection between the two ends, how much else either is doing, any limitations set by the sender. They will only go as fast as the slowest end.

If your sole reason for using mIRC is to share files, it isnt the best software to use. mIRC was written as a chat medium and there are far better programs to use for file transfers.
