whilst trying to uninstall mirc, everything inside the directory uninstalled, but the actual folder wont delete, "the file is in use, etc etc", what the hell would be using a folder with nothing in it ?

Hidden files? Try resetting, sometimes I have trouble with folders that don't wanna go away and that fixes it.

well, i havent restarted in a while because i got a worm called: w32.welchia.worm, "apparently" all it does is delete msblast, but i dont see how thats bad, so i keep my comp on in case it tries something on shutdown/startup + i dont see how there could be any hidden files, i only re-downloaded it about 3 hours ago shocked

lol, good luck on that uptime.

It's "bad" because it's generating a hell of a lot of traffic.

For every server it checks, it sends an ICMP packet, which gets priority on routers. Very, very, very bad. Lots of bandwidth wasted.

Did you try running it (the removal tool) in safe mode?
Posted By: pheonix Re: problem with mirc - 13/09/03 12:52 PM

McAfee found 2 files and I cleaned it up, but mIRC still loads on startup... how can i remove it?
Posted By: ParaBrat Re: problem with mirc - 15/09/03 09:45 PM
There are so many different trojans, each having different effects on your puter.
-Check out the info at http://www.mirc.co.uk/help/virus.html

- I would try one of the free online scanners like at www.trendmicro.com as they can be better at detecting and cleaning IRC type trojans. Make a note of whatever is found, and do some research on their website to see what other action you may need to take. Some of these trojans insert registry keys, and may add files to windows\system so simply deleting a couple files isnt going to resolve the problem

goto www.moosoft.com and download and run "the cleaner", it's not crippled for 30 days and it will remove the worm in real time, make sure download the update files after you install it.
