-service makes mIRC run as a service under 95/98.

What does "run as a service" mean?

Other than the fact that it doesn't list the program in the program listing when keying "<ctrl><alt>delete, what is the purpose of doing so?

Tx

For the most part, a service under 9x is useless. Basically the main feature it adds is if you "logoff" your username in win9x via the startmenu (note logoff, not shutdown), mIRC will continue running, and when you log back on, mIRC will still be running. But from my experience almost no one uses the logoff feature of Win9x...

yup
cos most people is better chose shutdown than chose log off on win 9X
