I've been trying to figure out IRC for an embarassingly long time, and have yet to make sense of anything meaningful enough to even get me into a chatroom. I'm not very computer savvy, but I dislike modern internet and want to get onto IRC instead. Is there some kind of guide for extremely basic beginners? I can't even figure out how to get into anything through Mibbit. Their lists of servers and channels on the website don't make sense, or seem to be missing, and I don't understand how to find the names of a server and go onto a channel, or search for anything. There's obviously a big learning curve here and i'd be happy to learn if i could find some sort of resource or a place to ask questions, but like i said, i haven't even gotten into a chat yet. It tells me my nickname is taken when i try libera.chat, but i don't understand how to change it either. I know this is an aimless post, but the bottomline is that i know so little that i don't even know how to find where to start. I'm usually not this bad at figuring new things out, hah. Glad to see that this forum is actually still fairly active though, so hopefully I can make sense of things here.

Can you clarify if you're trying to get help with how to use mIRC or use Mibbit? I've not used Mibbit, so I don't know if they have a place explaining how to use it.
At the top of this website the link "Help" (not the lower help that explains how to use the forum) has quite a few links that include basic and more advanced topics. Including
