I have been using mirc for years and for some reason I cant get Dalnet to connect I am using DSL and it will noit connect but I can get other servers

If you're trying to connect to a random dalnet server it won't work. Try here for a list of current servers.

Hello I know better than to use a random server but I tried that too it will no let me in

What error message do you get? What server did you try to connect to? If you /dns that.server.name what does it say?

I can just guess you can't get in coz of the server problems... at the momment I post this the first netsplits and big lags for today started... those last days DALnet is getting attacked again and it's prety dying... Kernel.* Hotspeed.* mesra.* & powertech.* hold almost all the network as more servers are de-linked/down due to the attacks... as you and everyone might noticed twisted.* was a verry big lost if not the bigger... now I can either suggested you the servers I said earlier on... either THIS site where you can find updated every 15mins(I think) the servers who are working the DALnet.

I couldn't keep it at 15 mins update without them k-lining me :P Its at 4 hours for a while now.
Posted By: FunChatter Re: DALNET - 06/06/03 12:36 PM
How about talking with DALnet administration about it... suggesting them to make your bot get the info on DALnet's servers page? smile And get is updating more often... laugh Dunno just a thought...

I'm guessing they prefer to hand update their server list. They do seem capable of auto updating the page themselves. (look at the source code of that page and search for "automated update")

Go to undernet, its so much better, DALNET sucks thats all i have to say about it, im on undernet and wont ever leave. Im glad dalnet is getting attacked and taken down, not saying im one of the ones doing it since im not. THough i hate it when stupid dalnet people come on my channel and starting crying like little babies wanting to know why they cant make there nick very long.

Ok so in the other post you advocate stealing, and how great it is to steal, then in this post you applaud the attacks on DALnet then quickly say you had nothing to do with them. So you admit to committing one crime, condone another crime, then expect us to believe you had nothing to do with that crime? Granted an ad hominem argument is generally not a valid argument, but it sure makes you wonder whether you had something to do with the attacks...

Oh and for the record, DALnet is NOT being taken down, it still exists and imho is much better than it used to be. I'd much rather chat on the warez-free DALnet than on the warez-infested Undernet. Though, by your admission of using an illegal copy of mIRC, you probably think the warez is one of the "l33t3st" things in the world and therefore love Undernet because of it.
Posted By: darkjedi Re: DALNET - 12/06/03 04:02 AM
Nope I didnt have anything to do with them, im not a hacker and I hate hackers. Hell warez is good, though I wont ever download games or movies or anything else from undernet. No sense in paying for games when you can get them free. So i take it you would rather pay for everything then get it free huh, how fun.

You're right I would rather be a law abiding citizen than a criminal, yea thats definately something I should be ashamed about! And you are right, I would MUCH rather pay for something to say I own it, rather than steal it just because I'm too cheap/poor to buy it. As a software developer I know what it's like when people steal my work, and I try and do everything the law allows me to do to prosecute such people, therefore I wouldn't want to do the same thing to someone else.
Posted By: darkjedi Re: DALNET - 12/06/03 05:45 AM
Hmmm not to cheap, its poor right now, only because im in college full time and not working. Once i graduate and get a good job ill start buying games, no reason not to then. So what software have you made? Any games i might know? Or is it other kinds of program software?

No sense in paying for games when you can get them free.

You are no better than a car thief or burglar. You remind me of a bust the Feds did here a few weeks ago. Someone set up a stall at a market here in Sydney selling Region-4 DVD's for AU$15 which had films not even shown in American theatres yet and these were recently filmed American pictures. It's got me stuffed how they manage it but it is quite rampant and I think it is disgusting that the owners of picture theatres and video libraries suffer and workers lose their jobs because of a downturn in revenues brought on by piracy.

The culprits face long gaol terms and then deportation to their homeland for their efforts which is totally justified.

Why get a job? No sense in getting a job when you can murder someone and take their stuff. Now you don't have to waste several years at college. Live outside the box.

That is where we agree, i refuse to buy movies like that, i dont even download them. Main reason is because 90% of them look like crap, and i dont want to watch a movie that has people laughing or talking or dang cell phones going off, or with heads going in and out of the camera. Was watching one show last night and they said Hulk movies were appearing online, that comes out on the 20th and paramount i think said that they are unfinished copies of the movie from even before it was released. Ive watched movies downloaded from online, but from other people that have downloaded them. The best one i have seen was resident evil, looked like a DVD except for the stupid mouse cursor in the middle of the screen.

Well let's just hope you have a really good anti-virus scanner, if the quality of your downloads is your main concern.
Posted By: darkjedi Re: DALNET - 12/06/03 11:25 PM
Oh I do, I have norton 2003, not downloaded that I bought. Made the mistake of downloading it, and yes you can call me stupid for this wink it had a virus embedded in it so of course didnt find anything else. When I did buy a good copy i had 66 viruses on my computer. Had to format, was oh so fun.
