mIRC Homepage
I know this seems t have no relevance to mIRC itself, but where IRC is concerned I figured it would lol, so anyways..

When it asks me for my "login(IRC ident)" I'm assuming it's not ident@host.com so if someone could tell me how to get my real ident/identd thingy I would appreciate it smirk

This is for an eggdrop shell btw.

ty all

Your LOGIN is the username you gave them (or they gave you) when you signed up for the shell account. This will also most likely be used as the ident (ident@host.com) for your eggdrop or bouncer on IRC.

~ Edit ~
To change your ident settings in mIRC...

options (alt+o) > connect > identd

Also, type
/help identd
for eggdrop your ident is set in the config file UNLESS your provider users a different shell setup. If they do then contact them. Good luck

##### BASIC SETTINGS #####

# This setting defines the username the bot uses on IRC. This setting has
# no effect if an ident daemon is running on your bot's machine.
set username "identnamehere"

If the shell provider listens for ident requests (some do and some don't) then it's the username for the shell account that's returned.

~ Edit ~
Nevermind, your edit explained it.

Yup it really does depend on the shell provider, as a rule of thumb I never run any ident servers on the shells I supply so folks can use their own.
