I have just downloaded mirc and i try to connect sum1 where but itdoesnt work it wont even connect!! whats wrong. 'it says' "unable to connect to IRC server". PLEase help!!!

What server are you trying to connect to? If are trying to connect to DALnet (the default) then that will be your problem.

In mIRC Options click "Connect" on the left and choose "QuakeNet: Random UK server" from the large combo box. Click "Connect to IRC server" and see if it works.

1. Are you using a firewall? (If so check settings)
2. Do other chat programmes manage to connect without problems?
3. Have you filled out all settings in "Connect" dialogue?
4. Are you attempting the connection to a server that you know to be currently online?
