I'm french then sorry if my english is not good...
I noticed that the reply of a ctcp VERSION to XDCC CATCHER's users is "mIRC v6.14 Khaled Mardam-Bey"
Is this normal ?
not everyone uses the same version of mirc. when it comes to xdcc. the scripting is so intense that the maker usualy requests that the script(s) only be used with a certain version of mirc for compatibility reasons.
but it seems to be an IRC client, not an addon... you can see and download this program at
www.xdcccatcher.com ...
I find that strange, but I can do a mistake...
It is definitely not an IRC client, it's a script that works WITH mIRC, it is not an IRC client itself. If it's distributing mIRC.exe as part of the script package then it shouldn't be.
Do be aware, mIRC isn't a file trading program it is meant for chatting and the occasional file-swap between friends. Downloading warez is also illegal in 99.9% of cases and a good way to catch a virus - not to mention very poor quality.
Regards,
its obviously hiding the fact that its a XDCC program in an attempt to stop networks doing automatic bans on them.
XDCC catcher is a stand alone XDCC client it hides the fact its a XDCC client by version evading. It replies mirc but in fact it has nothing to do with the mirc client. I hope this clears up any confusion.
