when mirc always sets its (normal) version back on startup ?

I'm assuming just older versions of mIRC used to rely on the entry. For now, Khaled just has mIRC write to it in the ini file. It also might be used sowhen updating, and you chose not to overwrite the ini file, mIRC knowns what the previous version was, and makes any neccesary changes (i.e. maybe changes key names, or moved key names) to the file.
