2. i read that irc deamon controls the irc network BUT arent services those who control it ?
3. since i am too stupid to grasp some things can someone please in easy words explain this to me?

you can see services as IRC-operator bots... which in fact they kind of are ;-]

the IRCd is the program which IS the server... services are not needed for an IRC server to run.

services only control nick/channel registration and the likes...
