I realized (in fact, the others in my channels did), that using the ä (small a-umlaut) with iso-8859-1 encoding renders the following result:
$BgU(B

Example: 'räum' would result in 'r$BgV(Bm'. confused
This only happens with ä being used anywhere else than the last letter in a line.
So, a single 'ä' (w/o quotes) in a line would be printed correctly, as would the single word 'foobä' (w/o quotes), any other use of 'ä' would be scrambled. frown

Is this a bug or is my 6.17 simply malconfigured? Although I did not change any config and everything worked fine in 6.16. I faintly remember that the same problem existed in 6.15, but I ain't absolutely positive on that. smirk

I am unable to reproduce this. What font and codepage (script) are you using?
