I'd like an explorer-like window for fserves, open a folder, and have a list of files on the right.

Is it possible to do this? In a standalone script.

In theory, but I'm not sure about in actuality. One problem is the fact that mIRC is text based, and a explorer style window is GUI (Graphical User Interface) based.

I believe invisions fserver explorer has been ripped out of invision before, try a search for that.

I don't think that is quite what he's looking for, though.

you tell me what part of what he asked for isnt in fserver-explorer, it sounded pretty much like it to me, I guess he might be thinking hes gonna find a drag and droper like explorer.exe but i think hes dreaming an amazing dream if hes seen one scripted in mirc.

Well, Invision's Fserv Explorer has your local drive info on the left and fserv drive info on the right. I think what he wants is where the entire thing is for the fserv. On the left, like he said, you can get the folders (probably in tree format) and on the right, you get the files within the folder you select.

I've not seen any like that, but it could be scripted with a DLL that has tree capability. As for drag and drop, you're right. smile

Still, the fserv explorer found in Invision and various other scripts (I've written one myself in the past when thinking I'd write my own full script before realizing I didn' t have the patience) can be easier to deal with than standard text-only format.

To find ones similar to Invision's look on mircscripts.org for fserv explorer and/or fserv browser.

I think that it is simple. I would like to do that in my script. You can do it with a dialog docked into the DCC Chat Window and you can use in that dialog the MDX Controls to make a Control Panel style. When a fserv DCC Chat you and you accept, you can Open that dialog, enter the dir command and, with on TEXT event, list all directory and files in that FServ. I will make the code when i have finished other Ævasion functions laugh

(sorry for my English, i'm Italian)

I must be wrong, but i didnt think people went to fservers to browse around anyway, if i ever went on one (which i dont becuase we dont do such things here smile )its normally straight to the file and get, and i did automate that on the crudest of levels (used a 5 second timer each of the commands cd cd cd get quit)

I don't even know how Fserve's work either, but I think people do use it to browse around, but not only for that for obvious reasons, if they request a list from the Fserve or whatever and don't see anything that takes their fancy, they'd be only browsing at that point and then trying to browse on someone elses Fserve until coming up trumps. grin
