Forums mIRC Help can't see actions - /me

I've looked all over for someone encountering the same problem but no luck.

I am using v6.16 with Win2K.
the problem is simple: I can't see actions. I can't see them when other people use them.

if I use /me I can see the text. but when other people use it, I see nothing.

please help...

Try Hi-liting te text to see if there is anything there, right click and drag.
If the text shows up you have the color set to a color that won't show.
Click on the color button, in the dialog box that pops up you will find action in the top left corner.
click on it and then click in a color box that will show up.

If there truly isn't any text after hi-liting it. Reload mIRC and don't safe the settings.

this isn't a color problem - there simply is nothing there.
both in the channel and in a private query window - the other party talking would do an action thing - and I see nothing. there is not a blank line, nothing, like they did nothing at all.

this only started happening after I upgraded to 6.16

I'd say something is blocking them.

Try searching for on *:action: events.

unless I don't know where to look, there is nothing like that anywhere. I went through the script editor (which is mostly empty, I don't use scripts) and there is nothing there about actions.

could you tell me where to look specifically, or does anybody have any other ideas?

Try these:
/ignore -l -> if it gives output, see if you block actions from the people you're talking to or just type /ignore off

/!remote off -> disables all scripting, so on ACTION events aren't called and not halted either.

Go to colors menu (alt-k) and make sure you can read Action text right under Appearance. If you cannot see it, click there anyway and select a new visible colour from one of the 16 coloured boxes below.

Check it yourself, type /server -m, connect to your channel again and type /me testing. If you see that, those other people weren't sending any actions and telling you they did.

If that doesn't work, go to http://www.mirc.com/get.html and download mIRC again, and install it to a new folder.
