What is the IP that I see when I look at my local area connection in Network Connections in Control Panel?

mIRC does look up my IP for me but it finds one of two different kinds. Since it is the same two every time, I think I have a static IP. One is found using the normal method and it usually says that the hostname is my nick when I do this.

The other IP is found with Server method but then it can't find any hostname.

I can recieve fine but I can't send. I can't ever resolve dns no matter what I put. And when I do the suggested /whois nick command to find my hostname, it says the second IP address where my hostname should be. What do I do? lol And how do I find my hostname?

Are you on a LAN at your house. Do you have a router between you and your modem?
