Hey Everyone:

Somehow I must have downloaded a trojan without realizing it a few months ago. Ever since that time a program that appeared to be MIRC kept launching at start-up. Initially it was clear that someone was trying to hijack my computer, so I changed the settings on the fake MiRC and that stopped. I searched for the MIRC on my drives, but had no luck. The program continued to launch at start-up and sit there uselessly.

Now, however, after following a wise commentator's advice to compare the processes that run when the fake MIRC starts and when I stop it, I have uncovered the name of the app to be deleted - taskmngr.exe. (Do not worry - the real taskmanager program is taskmgr.exe. Make sure you don't delete that one.) Sneaky little hacker, huh?

Anyway, deleting taskmngr.exe fixed the problem for me and should do the same for you.

Best of luck.

Josh
