i am having problems getting the color to work when writing a message.

Since there wasn't anything specific you wanted im assuming that you use the key combination ctrl+k which brings up the color palette, but also adds a  in your editbox, click on the number for the color and type your text then hit ctrl+k again to close it with another  if that is the only word you want to color.

Example:

If you want to color someones nickname, it would look something like this in your editbox before hitting the enter key:

hi 4PersonsNicknameHere

it would then look like this in your chat window after hitting enter

hi PersonsNicknameHere

do u do it in the mirc program or in the icq chat site

mIRC has nothing to do with ICQ. They are two different programs, in which the similarities end with the fact that they're both used for chatting. ICQ, like MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL, and others are designed for one on one chat, as mIRC is designed to access the IRC (Internet Relay Chat) servers & protocols. The two are not interchangeable.

but there are pepole in icq chat tyhat are using that program to color there text

Well there is the ability to change the color of your text in ICQ itself, unless im blind, i didnt see you specify whether or not these "people" are using ICQ or mIRC.

Do that in mIRC... in the channel you are typing in.
