Hi

i just moved into Uni and can't log in with IRC on the campus network on my PC i have.

the first error i got was

* Connecting to irc.irchighway.net (6667)
-
* Firewall: Unable to connect to firewall

after reading i saw ppl suggested to turn off the firewall after that then got this

* Connect retry #1 66.132.146.52 (6667)
-
* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)

any help is really appreciated.

i dont run any firewalls on my system and im using 2000 so not got the XP firewall that i know is a common problem

The university probably has the connection firewalled - Only thing I can suggest is you talk to the appropriate professor/whoever and see if they can help you, as (s)he is the only one who knows the whole setup of things. On top of that, they are the only ones who can grant you permission to use IRC - if you're not allowed to, we don't help with evading policies.

Most networks don't use just the port 6667. Try another port like 6666 or 6668. Usually it works. Otherwise take a shell and a bouncer on a different port.
