It would be very unlikely that its an issue with mIRC because people would have reported it by now, the likely events are either;

a) You are on several (or even just one), very large channel that has extremely large content, i.e. everyones talking at once, in which case this is how a "flood" would work, sending masses of data as a result freezing/slowing mIRC.

b) The other maybe that your using a script that is doing some sort of /whois or /who in/on the channel/users everytime you/someone joins and is slowing you down.

Eamonn.

Try leave mirc on for a week at a time. see if your system starts lagging. Something is broken in the latter mirc builds, not too sure what it is, but it is definitly slowing down systems after running mirc for a long time without reboot.

Operating System: (WinXP Professional 5.1 Service Pack 2 (Build #2600)) ¤ Uptime: (1w 5d 7h 3m 3s) ¤ Record Uptime: (2w 7h 10m 48s set on Fri Aug 13 12:35:32 2004)
mIRC has been open the whole time, 448 mhz Pentium III
Memory Usage: (Usage: 214/256MB (83.59%)) ¤ (||||||||--) ¤ Virtual Memory: (Usage: 78/2048MB (3.79%)) ¤ (----------) ¤ Page File: (Usage: 347/491MB (70.61%)) ¤ (|||||||---)
Thats after 1 week 5 days, no problems with mirc is currently using 18 megs, and its peak was 22 its virtual memory size is 20 megs. No problems at all, maybe you have something else interfearing
