If you read the thread entitled Common IRC errors at the top of this page, you would eventually come across this:

This normally means you are not properly connected to the Internet. Your Windows cannot find out how or where to find the IRC server. It has nothing todo with mIRC or IRC! Check your connection (reconnect if everything seems fine) and try again.

I did read that one. I am connected. I have tried multiple times. After I gave up with it, I tried opening my ftp program. I couldn't even connect to that because it said No Route to Host. I know I'm connected... there's no other way for me to type this as I am right now. HELP!!!

Are you absolutely sure you're connected to the internet? Can you open web pages? Maybe your isp is blocking you from IRC - it's been known to happen! Maybe you should contact them.

Are you networked? have a router? have you tried a tracetroute to try to figure out where it gets mucked up along the route?

Are you sure the server/ftp you are trying to connect to is up? (just cause its in the server list doesnt mean its up)
