This has been discussed many times, please use the Search feature - expand to 'All Forums' and 'All Posts'.
Khaled does not release information on when the next version of mIRC will be out, and rarely what will appear in the next version.

I would guess and say when 64bit applications become more mainstream. Until then, the demand isnt there except for those FEW who have systems that can handle it hardware-wise

Not to mention software-wise. I don't know anyone who uses a 64-bit version of Windows, and the way the Longhorn release keeps being put back it could be a couple of years before a major 64-bit Windows release.
Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and stupid comments are intentional.

not a bad thing if that means getting more problems fixed Im not picking on the program or company, but if releasing a program resolves further conflicts/errors and makes it more stable, Im all for a delay even if I want said program

Is it hard I wonder to make 64-bit apps? I mean can't you bassically just compile it with the compiler set to make 64bit code and go a long way towards achieving 64bit that way? just wondering. Excuse the naivety of my question btw. Oh btw, to test 64-bit apps khaled would have to have a 64bit system I imagine, otherwise it's shooting in the dark, I wonder if he does.

It's not hard to make. Remember that programmes have to be throughly tested before release though and this takes time - lots of time.

I think the destinction has to be made between 64-bit compatible and designed in 64 bit. Any application that doesn't make any calls lower than 32 bit will run under XP 64 bit. What I'd like to see in the next major release is just an elimination of the few remaining 16 bit calls in mIRC, thus making it compatible with a 64 bit system, rather than a total move to 64 bit code (since such a move would be detramental at this time, given XP 64 bit beta's rather small user base).

I agree. mIRC is a really small application and I don't feel that there'd be any discernable difference in speed when comparing a 32 and 64 bit version, certainly no difference to the human eye anyway.
