I have given you more than enough reason as to why these type of posts are not accepted. You have not seen thousands of people accept it. Several people do not like advertising threads. Every time an advertising post is made, I find someone has clicked the 'Notify moderator' button.
So, in regards to siyavash:
- The posts were unwelcome advertising.
- The threads quickly fell into ridiculous flaming threads.
- After 2-3 threads being locked, he continually reposted. This is unacceptable behaviour.
- At the beginning (and even to a certain extent now) we did not know if the file was trustworthy.
In general:
- We are not prepared to virus check every program posted by every user.
- We are not going to encourage this forum to become one where advertising of a program that the author thinks is useful is acceptable.
- It is generally bad 'netiquette'.
- There are plenty of other websites that are purposefully set up for the providing of mIRC addons, scripts and miscellaneous 'stuff' where this could be submitted.
- It is not fair to others who have in the past had their 'advertising' rejected. It is not fair to others to have someone elses project solely focused on, especially with a board as popular as this.
This is perfectly reasonable, and one of the 'standard' rules that are accepted on most Internet forums.
