Hello, I'm new to the mIRC and I was wondering after I installed mIRC to my fresh install of Win XP, my HD light constantly blinks?

The HD doesn't sounds like "searching" something, and I checked if its virus or trojan with various programs, but nothing!
I even uninstall the mIRC and reinstall but still the light still blinks!
I have to point out that before the installation of mIRC, I never had this problem

Thanks

The light is suppose to be flashing constantly, usually once every few seconds, however it does depend totally on your computer and what processes you are running in the background, note that the light usually indicates "processing" and not that something is accessing your harddrive.

But just the clarify mIRC wouldnt cause anything of the sort to occur.

Thanks for the reply

I checked the background programs but nothing suspicious though

So does it mean it's "Normal" and does it happen to anyone?

It's so strange that once I have mIRC installed in my computer HD, it blinks every other second. However I notice that when the computer is reboot, the blink disappears?

mIRC recieves more information than just 'chat' messages. It also receives channel modes, names lists, ban lists for channels you are opped in, etc etc... all of which have to be processed. You may not see or notice all of it but they are normal "housekeeping" tasks that mIRC must perform which would cause your processing light to blink.

Do you have any logging enabled in mIRC?

mIRC Options (alt o) > IRC > Logging

Logging would cause it .. especially if you're in a big channel.

No, I do not have logging enable.

However, I was wondering does the light blink even if I'm "offline"?
confused
And the only way that I can eliminate this problem is by reinstalling Win XP but after I install mIRC, I'll have this problem all over again?
