Well I must say I'm very disappointed over this latest version of mIRC 6.16.

It has since I installed it, just given me problems such as connecting through my IP address, or not connecting at all. In the previous version this did never happen, so it would be very nice to hear what the reason for this is. Someting who I dislike very much, is that in every new version it's told what's changed or added, but this time is the worst I've seen. mad

Sorry you're experiencing these issues frown

What is the error message that you're receiving? In order to attempt to help you we really do need that. However, to help yourself, I first suggest you take a look at the sticky threads at the top of the 'connection issues' forum as they contain a lot of information. Also use the forum's Search feature. Expand to 'All Forums' and 'All Posts' for best results.

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

Well, I still don't understand what's happening when i connect to my irc server. It will not connect to localhost, but only through my IP address. The strange is, that I have exactly the same settings as I had on the previous versions. Is it anyone who know what this problem can be?

works fine for me:

(2:19am) * Connecting to localhost (987)
-
(2:19am) -{localhost}- You need to say /quote PASS <password>

(tested with a bouncer i use on my other machine)

and:

(2:20am) * Connecting to localhost (6667)
-
(2:20am) -{localhost}- *** Looking up your hostname...
-
(2:20am) -{localhost}- *** Found your hostname

Fine with unrealircd 3.2 final.

mirc 6.16

Hosts file problem me thinks? has localhost been changed to somethin else?
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (Win XP)

it should have this somewhere, most likely at the top.
127.0.0.1 localhost

Are you sure you are not connecting through a proxy (and/or the 'exception masks' section is not correctly set to go direct to localhost)?

Hope that helps smile
