I can't seem to use $address(<<nickhere>>, 5) with any nicknames with [] in them, i think its because its evaluating it. Is there anything I can do i stop this.

It should work, and indeed it does in v6.16, are you /who'ing the user to ensure your mIRC actually has their host cached?

If so, paste the actual line your using..

this is what I'm using:
//say $address(GTOsleep,5)

I get "* /say: insufficient parameters". My mIRC version is also 6.16

try, /who GTOsleep followed by:

//say -> $address(GTOsleep,5)
