Alright, here's a new bug which will freeze your mIRC client.
Open mIRC and connect to any server, hit ALT+O (mIRC options menu will show up). Now choose "Highlight" from the IRC list and check the "Enable highlighting" button, click add then enter a single quote ", hit OK.
Now type "//msg $me test" or let someone msg you or wait until a user speaks in a channel you're in.
Here your mIRC will go into an infinite loop because of exception handling not covering this case
Be sure to remove the quote " in the end.

I can reproduce it. Also, the added entry doesn't appear in the Highlight list, there's just an empty line there.

Yeah, i noticed the empty line, but no crash.

I can also reproduce it, but something has to be said before mIRC will freeze.

Even a single " turns into an empty entry, and /echo -l makes mIRC freeze as well.

fi i understend you right i pressed alt+o i go to highlight
i check enable highlight and i have add this word "ok"
if i msg my self like you say it can not highlight becuse this fuction is to highlight words/text from others users but if somone else speeks and the word i put "ok" is spoken it works ok here .
the only think i found here is if you selecet from the combobox highlight messages only is still highlight the nickname

hi fiberoptics  if i understend right the quote is $chr(34) i test it with chr 34 = " and it still works here , like i say the only thing i put highlight only message and the nickname is still highlight

Actuali your right at the first i was think it is ok becuse i only test it with a clone of my after then i have tring to join a channel with 800 users and above and it realy freeze my mIRC to , i have tring 4 or 5 times and it frees again after i disbale the highlight " evrethink was back to normal

your right this " returns an empty line but there is a focus in blue on this empty line
and the are more bugs with highliht selecedt some fuction from the combo box like highlit only nick or nick and msg and you will see
