i am a bit confused with dbu and pixels thing

if dbu means that my dialog will look normal under ANY display and ANY resolution, then why pixels are given (exept that compatibility)

actually my real question is what is best to use ?

I like using dbu, but yeah I see what you mean. Seems like pixel would be the same on every platform of windows on any resolution even if the resolution is different, it should either show up big on a screen with 800 by 600, or show up small on a higher resolution. But, using pixel makes it look weird for everyone at different resolutions. It's definatly a head scratcher.

Well, DBU (dialog base unit) is the more recommended as it makes sure that the dialog will look the same for each user, same width, height, ect..

PIXEL however, allows the dialog to "adjust" depending on the users screen resolution, i.e. 1024x will make the dialog smaller compaired with 800x

An interesting arguement for using pixels might be because people who tend to use different resolutions may or may not do so because of their eyesight, perhaps they cant see the screen very well at 1024 or something.

On a 800x600 1 DBU = 2 PIX.

Eamonn.
