I have downloaded the mIRC installation file. I run it
"The mIRC install file appears to be damaged. Please try running the mIRC installer again or download a new version"
I have downloaded the file from several locations, and I had a friend download it and I pulled from his FTP. Same problem, and exact samt filesize.
Filesize: 1299877bytes
This differs from 1298432 which is on the download page.
I run Windows 98SE 4.10.2222 A. (Swedish version)

Are you getting this error as soon as you start the installer, or at the end by a file called "urls.ini"? There was a recent bug report concerning the latter that you may want to read, see this thread.

Do you have any virus/trojan scanners that scan all your downloads? Before even clicking the download link, disable all virus/trojan scanners and then close all other programs (jncluding IE) and try installing mIRC, see if it does the same thing. Save the .exe to your desktop and not some C:\ subdirectory.

Paradoxically, you may want to do a full system virus/trojan scan, perhaps one is corrupting your system. There are a number of good resources in this thread. Good idea to use more than one as no ONE can detect all viruses/trojans.

Hope this helps smile

By the file size it sounds like a virus is adding something to the file. mIRC does a CRC pre-installation to make sure the installer isn't corrupted and a virus would make that CRC fail.

Get, install and run a virus scanning tool ASAP.
