Well it started when i noticed i couldn't iniatiate a DCC session (SEND/CHAT). I did some work to find out what the problem was and now i found it. Its best illustrated with this example (althoug this is not a DCC session):
when i give the command:
//MSG $me TEST : $+ $chr(1) $+ DCC CHAT chat $longip(127.0.0.1) 59 $+ $chr(1)
(note i changed the ip but this won't affect the problem)
it will send myself a pm with the syntax of a dcc chat request, this won't do anything because it's pm but it'l show the problem, as this is what is see in the pm window with myself:
<HackyBot> TEST :DCC CHAT chat 2130706433 59
<HackyBot> TEST :DCC CHAT chat =*ØPÙo\èzðz
the first line is the message i send, nothing wrong there, but the second line, the message i receive, is wrong! I have no idea what's causing this but it effectively stops me from initiating DCC sessions. Whenever i try to do a DCC chat or send the receiver gets "DCC Chat from HackyBot rejected (invalid parameters)"........
I found this out with a packet sniffer and because the wrong msg is already there in the packets received and not in the packets sent i don't thinks its a problem with Mirc. So that leaves: my modem,my isp,or the irc server who could've mangled my message.
I don't think its the server because i asked some friends of mine to test the pm command above and their message remainded intact. (this was on the same server)
I have a sweex modem/router and my isp is zonnet (nl).
although i don't have a solution to the problem i hope someone finds my findings useful. And it was a lot of work to finally find the problem of why my dcc chat's weren't working. I just had to share this. So if you can't initiate dcc sends try the command at the top of my post to see if your problem is the same as mine.
