net in my campus using firewall and if i download using proxy connection. can mirc work behind this 'block'???
please anyone help me...thanks

This issue needs to be taken up with the technical staff at your school. They have blocked access for a reason...Try negotiating with them...but you more than likely will remain unable to access mIRC.

mIRC can be set to connect to the IRC server using a HTTP or SOCKS proxy without problems; set the proxy type, IP address and port in Tools/Options/Connect/Firewall. DCCing will probably not work. mIRC is not for downloading stuff, it's for chatting. Consider yourself lucky that you CAN chat from campus network, other networks block even that possibility.

They did say there was a block on the campus's network. We tend not to help with getting round such blocks - if they are allowed to, they can speak to the network administrator and be helped by them - they of course know the network the best smile
