Okay so we use the Stratics/Glowfish server. The other night while I was in bed the server crashed really bad. Now my registered user name (Claudia) no longer works. There is another Claudia logged in, when you PM her it says there is no such nick/channel. Im really frustrated!!!

Have you tried identifying to your registered nickname? Some more details about your problem may be helpful to the rest of us here...

I cant because is says someone else is using that name currently. The user that is using the name is me but like 3 days ago. When I crashed some how it didnt log me out of the rooms I was in.

Let me tell you about the crash. It said that Stratics had Killed me??? I have no clue what that mean. I was in bed when it happened. I had not been online for a whole day.

Also when I had been online earlier before I was killed, it told me that my name was no longer registered to the server. I could not do the /nickserv identify thing...

my first thought was that the nick was lagged after the crash, but you said "the other night", which would be an awfully long time for lagged nick to still be there without pinging out. looking over their website, i see they can hide hostmasks, and they have nickserv. You could try ghosting it, /nickserv RECOVER Nickname NicknamePassword
followed by release command, /nickserv RELEASE Nickname NicknamePassword ( read details on their website at http://chat.stratics.com/content/irchelp/nickserv.php )

Best bet is to ask in that network's help channel, #irc-help or post on their IRC forum.

EDIT: if by "killed" you mean you were klined, per their website: "For information regarding k-lines, please e-mail kline@stratics.com - PLEASE NOTE: Only the party that is k-lined will receive information regarding their k-line. If you e-mail us for your buddy who was removed from the network, we will not discuss it with you. "

Its always best when you have a network specific problem to take a few minutes and look thru their website. i found it in about 3 seconds with google

It keeps saying that Nickname is not registered. I used to be...

thats something only an admin with that network can help you out with, i'm not clear on if the nick expired or you've been banned. you can email them at the kline addy or post on their forum at http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/stratics/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=straticsirc or email irchelp@stratics.com

If you are on a network with multiple servers, this could happen if one (or more) server thinks the nick still exists and the other(s) don't.

One of the following should solve the problem:

- /kill claudia, or ask an operator to /kill claudia
- connect to the server claudia is connected to and /nick claudia
- last resort: have the servers restarted or split and reconnected

Hi, sorry it took a bit to see this message. Just for future reference:
If your nickname becomes stuck (you can't ghost it and it says it's in use), go the the #irc-help channel on the stratics IRC server and tell one of the IRC ops in there that you have a stuck nickname. One of them will /kill it for you. Usually nicknames only become stuck after netsplits. You can also try sending a message to irchelp@stratics.com, or try the forums on the stratics web site.

This problem will usually happen after a net split where the servers didn't competely reconnect and split again.
