I dunno of a way to slow it down, I don't think you can...

/list includes all those channels with 2/3 users, perhaps it might help to use the /list > N command to cut off the tiny channels you might not necessarily want?

Usually there's not a huge reason to get a complete list of channels on the top networks, it takes ages and it's impossible to look through each one...

Hope someone comes up with an answer though smile

On DALnet's Bahamut there is a pattern-based server-side filtering, but other servers just dump the whole list and expect you to filter it yourself.

As for now (until the ircd coders decide to fix their products) you can search for channels at http://irc.netsplit.de/channels/ and http://searchirc.com/

IRCnet too has pattern-based, server-side filtering... but not using /list! crazy Type /squery alis help on IRCnet for a detailed explanation of this really rather powerful and little-known tool.

Sample usages:

/squery alis list *wildcard*
(lists all channels with the names containing the wildcard)

/squery alis list * -min 10 -topic whatever
(lists all channels with a minimum of 10 users and the word "whatever" in the topic)
