I think it would be neat if team mIRC had an official software recommendation when it comes to webcams. I really don't know if it's worth bloating mIRC for webcam support, but it sure is hard to find something decent by a 3rd party. A little nudge from the scene-leading irc client might inspire some good development, but I am not sure if khaled has any interest in endorsing someone else for free.

The operative acronym here is IRC.

Without arguing both sides, advantages and disadvantages--IRC protocol is meant to be just for chatting. If you want webcams, feel free to visit Yahoo, or make an alias that runs NetMeeting or something. But for your chatting need, stick to mIRC.

IMHO, mIRC doesn't need another thing to bloat it and slow it down. Support for webcams can be scripted (and has by several). If you want it, just load the addon.

well you could always just make mirc just a button that will open microsoft netmeeting... and maybe add some other features like right click on their name and beside query have 'webcam' or something so it would dial them up instantly... im sure there is an add-on for this out there somewhere... if there isn't... someone should make one!

ByteCam is a webcam module for mIRC. It may suit your needs.
