Good evening! I guess that I don't know the right way to use it :

why can't I use this /echo -s $mid(%string, %num, %var + 1)
but have to use this %nvar = %var + 1 | /echo -s $mid(%string, %num, %nvar)

The only two places where you can perform math functions are variable setting and $calc(). The latter is usually the most practical way to do what you want: $mid(%string,%num,$calc(%var + 1))
