Forums mIRC Help max number of channels?

Hey.

It seems to me that mIRC is limited to a total of 20 channels at the same time. Is there any way to join more. My reason for asking is the the clan I'm in, has several idle deals and if I am to join them, as well as the channels I idle on of interest it's a total of too many.

The number of channels you can join has absolutely nothing to do with mIRC, it is dependant on the server that you are using. When you connect to a server, you should see a big scroll of text with a bunch of what looks like rubbish. However, if you look at it carefully, amongst it you should see:

MAXCHANNELS=20

This is what tells you the maximum number of channels you can join.

Ask in the network's #Help channel as the helpers there often know what servers will allow you on more channels, simply through experience.

Due to general IRC-usage most servers will not let you on more than 20 channels....it is generally considered pointless to join more than that as there is no way you could possibly keep up with so many. I have come across servers to let you on 30-35 channels however.

Thanks. So it's server related, hmmm... My bad, then. I'll give it a go. True, keeping up with that many channels is not easy and most likely impossible. I don't, however Cancelling some of the deals might be a goog idea then. Thanks again.
