I am now connecting via a router and since installation of this I am unable to receive files. Has anybody any advice on configuring my settings to allow both computers on my network receive packets?

Hi!

There's nothing particular to configure, if you can browse the Internet (receive web pages), then you can receive DCC files.
Receiving data implies opening a random free port on your computer for downloading and your router knows where to route every incoming packet, so you can't configure it on a router or computer.
Are you sure it's not a sender problem? It could be a coincidence

Indeed, as fxmakers said, in a lot of cases when people cannot receive it is because of the sender that is the problem. There are a couple of other suggestions as to what it could be on this page though.

You might also like to know simply as general information:

1) Default DCC ports are 1024-5000

2) You only need TWO ports open, preferably in that port range to use DCC.

3) After setting them up in a router or firewall, you need to set them in mIRC Options ALT+O > DCC > Options - First: and Last: port.

Hope ya get it sorted smile
