Forums General Discussion Banned Permanatley from MIRC HELP!!!

Yeah hi. ive been using mIRC for a while now for my counter-strike clan and its a really great program. But recently when i try to connect to gamesnet.net or a bnuch of servers it says that i have been permanantley banned from mIRC for spamming. However i can still connect to a few servers. I do have a younger brother who uses my computer and uses mIRC for whatever reasons. I have not been spamming and all i do is idle in my clans channel. I asked my little brother if he was doing anything wrong on mirc and the only thing he can think of was. He was asking in #adminmod #help #support and #statsme if anyone knew anything about torjan horses. I asked him why he was asking people this. And he said that he thought that our computer was infected with a torjan horse adn he wanted to know how he can run a test on our cmoputer to find out. Ever since than we have been banned from mIRC. I really need to get back onto gamesnet. Can someone please help and unban me. Its not fair to be banned forever. In the future there wont be any more problems regarding my little brother. The little punk has a computer of his own now which he can mess up

1. to unban your host you must speak to NETWORK administrators (admins) not to ppl on this forum

2. to remove possible trojans download Trojan Remover and install some antivirus

3. you are not banned FROM mIRC, you are banned from NETWORK, mIRC is a program that CONNECT'S you to that network

where do i go to speak to network admistrators

try joining this channels:

it is usually #help
and go to networks homepage to see if there is some help
for your problems and how to contact admins through email

No need to worry, these things happen. First thing's first, check out why you're klined/glined from GameSurge (GamesNET isn't its name anymore). You can find out why here.

If it's due to a virus, which is the most likely reason, then you can use these programs to detect and remove it. Use more than one for best results, as no ONE antivirus can find all types of trojans and viruses:

Trendmicro (Free online virus scan)
Symantec (Free online virus scan)
SwatIT (Trojan scanning program)
The Cleaner (Trojan scanning program)
AVG (Virus scanning program)

Do not run two at the same time as they may conflict. You can have more than one installed, just best not to run at the same time. All of them are free to use or try.

For future reference, make sure you AND your brother:

- NEVER accept files from people on IRC. Only accept files from trusted friends, 'trusted' meaning you've known them for months if not years, not because they've been nice to you for a few hours.

- NEVER go to URLs (website addresses) which are advertised to you on IRC. This includes "Free" pornography, free pictures of Britney Spears in the nude, pictures of people etc.

- NEVER type suspicious things that people tell you to type, especially if they contain //write $decode or any other long form of what appears to be a jumble of letters and numbers.

- ALWAYS have an antivirus installed on your computer. If they have auto-protect features (out of the above list I know AVG does) then have it enabled.

- ALWAYS have the latest updates from www.windowsupdate.com.

- ALWAYS have the latest version of your software. mIRC is an important one to have updated to avoid any exploits that may be found. You can always get the most up to date version at www.mirc.com/get.html.

It was never my intention to have it as a Forum resource, but now you mention it, I might use it as that sometimes, and of course everyone else is free to use it :P - There are times however, I think individual help is needed so I don't think I'll be using it left, right and center.
