I've been using Mirc for a while now, but in the last few days, when I try to open a link, like a pass to a site, it won't load and gives an "Invalid Syntax Error" message.

What is this and how do I fix it?

thanks

It's because IE (with the latest patches) no longer supports http://user:pass@website.com url's.

Is there a way around this? Why do the latest patches not support this? Any ideas?

Microsoft stopped allowing IDs and passwords to be
embedded in URLs used by Internet Explorer. After applying the patch, if user information is included you'll get invalid syntax error, read
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;834489 which has details about why and "workaround"
