Hmm...I have Zone Alarm Pro, and a few weeks ago, I noticed Zone Alarm Pro "Blocked" access to some proxy*.undernet.org addresses.....I think it was proxypool followed by a number digit......but cant remember off hand.

Any idea why these proxies were trying to connect to me? Or why my computer was trying to connect to these proxies? (cant remember if it was in or outgoing traffic) BUT, I was able to connect to "Random US Undernet Server".

Any ideas?

It's just a security scan to check if you're not using an unsecure firewall or proxy to make some DoS attack against the network.

Nothing to worry about, this incoming connexion will disconnect you from the network if it founds an open port such as 80, 81, 1080, 8000, 8080 and the reply matches with an unsecure connection (unconfigured wingate, no password for Socks4/5, relayed proxy, etc...)

Undernet isn't the only network to do this. Due to abuse (*sigh*) 95% of networks will do this nowadays, and I think all of the big ones do.

DALnet have a good page at http://kline.dal.net/proxy and many networks do say "If you don't want to be scanned, don't connect". In other words, don't bother complaining (not saying you were) or asking if they could make an exception to your IP, because access won't be granted.

Nothing to worry about though, no personal information is gained, no damage to your computer or it's software is done, it's harmless smile

Happy chattin'!

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

That's the proxy scan aim, to check if your computer port is secure and not open for anyone.
