A friend of mine is trying to load an addon that is known to be working, but it doesn't seem to be wanting to load.

After he writes the load command he gets:

* Break: command halted (line 6, morgan.mrc)
-
* Break: command halted (line 2, exmorgan.mrc)

He told me that he had this problem with mIRC 6.03, and it was solved by upgrading to 6.12. Now with the newest version he got the problem again, and he doesn't seem to be able to load the addon.

Does anyone knows of a bug in mIRC or trojan/virus for mirc which causes it??
As much as I remember, in the lines that the addon breakes, there is an "echo" command.

Btw, clean install doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks.

If you had an inifine loop and used ctrl+break to escape it before mirc crashed, but instead of pressing it just once or twice, kept pressing it--mirc loads these breaks onto some sort of internal stack. For every time you press it, it savs it for a new event trigger.

This was a bug I reported a while ago, and it can be irritating. Try restarting mIRC, and see if it goes away.

Keyboard Error:

Solution 1: Tap CTRL+SCRLLOCK
Solution 2: Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT (all SIX, left and right) several times together.
Solution 3: Restart Windows.

Problem will be solved.

Are you sure it is a keyboard error??
confused

My friend says that he has it for some time now, so I think that restarting windows doesn't slove the problem. And no... it is not an infinite loop.

Does someone knows of a virus that do that?

Thanks.

Holding down the key combination CTRL+SCRLLOCK will effectively disable mIRC's scripting engine for the duration that it is held down.

Releasing the CTRL key 1+ second prior to releasing the SCRLLOCK key will result in a "sticky" effect, where the combination is "held down" indefinitely. This effects several other key combinations, too.

It is not inconceivable that your friend managed to cause this sticky key state, and I know of one other person who "re-installed" mIRC five times.. but didn't want to lose his precious uptime by restarting.

The trick of mashing CTRL+CTRL+ALT+ALT+SHIFT+SHIFT several times will solve most (every) keyboard AND mouse anomalies. (A trick I figured out after several successful keybard mashings.)

Why's that, I wonder? Any technical reason behind it?

Nope, I can't say I know exactly why that is.

It could be a Windows thing... it could be a PS2 (hardware) thing...
All I know is, when my keyboard goes haywire and hotkeys stop working or if the CTRL key seems held down or when my Left Click acts like Right Click... it works flawlessly.

Also, if you enter //echo -a $asc( $+ ) $+ ) you will get * Break: evaluation error
I believe it is mIRC's way of halting an infinite loop that will cause it to crash or its saying that its impossible to evaluate what was entered

Good job Khaled for 140,100+ lines of source code!!!

Lol. Im glad someone knew the answer to this. My ferret decided to take a stroll across my keyboard, for the second time.

First time he did a CTRL + ALT + ( the -> Key)
which turned my computer screen 90 degrees...

this time he halted all my scripts =/

thanks =)
