I just wanna know if there are anyway to change the way your ip i written on a server...like, in the moment my IPlooks like this: ramsar@blabber-293E33AE.dial-up.net. I have seen IP's that look like this: ~Playa@Flame.FireServ.Za.Net. i know its called a Vhost or something like that. I know on blabber you must pay for them..but isnt there any other way to change em?

Thanx

Some networks do support hidden hosts (usually mode +x) - The user with that vhost could be an IRC Operator on that network seeing as his vhost contains Za.net which is likely owned by the network. Check if they have the line "is an IRC Operator" in their /whois. It might be however, that you have to register a username to get one. Ask in the network's #Help channel and they give you more advice.

To get one you'll need a BNC or PsyBNC hosted on a Shell account. Try searching Google or you might like to run a Search on these Forums for "Shell" and see the various topics that cover it - expand to 'All Forums' and expand the date range to 'All Posts' for best results.

Oh, and just an FYI, the bit after the @ that you posted is your hostname, not your IP. Use /dns nickname or /dns hostname to get an IP. An IP is a 4 digit number, for example 82.0.65.228. You could also do //echo $ip.

Best of luck!

some networs (like mine) provide IRC vhost to users, you can have anything you want in the whois ;b (as long as it's not abusive, or doesn't correspond to a real, not_owned_by_you host)
but of course, this type of host is just for the specific network

And all I need now is intellectual intercourse, a soul to dig the hole much deeper

Yeah, some networks do allow that but it's very rare, and usually only very small networks - even then it's often only IRC Operators who can change a user's hostname.

Thanks smile
