If you right click on a URL in a mirc window you should have the ability to 'save target as'

The reason I feel this is because if someone pastes a url with a mpeg/video type file it would be much more convenient if you could save it to a location first before playing it. I don't like the whole buffering now thing and it doesn't seem to always work as good as saving the file to a location.

Although I do not know how hard it would be to implement this option, it would be rather beneficial to the user to have it.

There is no way to send to the browser "download this file." All mIRC does is redirect the url to your default browser, and opens no HTTP connections itself. Such an internal SaveAs function would require that mIRC learns how to handle HTTP connections, which is a complex evil not unlike IRC.

Download and learn how to use WGET.
