I believe one essential feature that mIRC has always lacked is a full Unicode support. My OS is set as a Japanese system, but I also speak French and English, therefore I write French, English and Japanese often on mIRC. French has accents in its alphabet (àéê, etc...), however for my system is Japanese, mIRC recognizes accents as other characters and doesn't display them. The same applies to Japanese, as people who can't or don't want to change their whole OS language configuration just to display Japanese are in a fairly troublesome situation. I know I am not alone in this situation, and maybe it has been posted before, but it is a concern, and as far as I know, it would not be a great burden to implant this feature in future versions of mIRC.
