6.12 isn't affected by DCC exploits afaik... this was fixed. only versions 6.0-6.11 were affected

yeah, there is an exploit of 6.12 ... but ...

/quote
It only seems to affect people who minimize DCC get dialog windows (manually or by default), and then open those windows to get a file with an excessively long filename. You can't be crashed unless that sequence of events occurs. That manual step is required. If you auto-get the file, or don't get the file at all, nothing happens.

sooooooo .. (to ytytyt) either autoget the files, or don't get any
no fixes required

thnx, I saw a few references to it here and there but it would be nice to have these kind of things posted on the front page of mIRC.com or somewhere clearly visible on the forums so you don't get so many questions about it...

thnx for the link!

*chuckle* i can remember some ppl complaining we have too many "sticky" posts as it is. It would be hard to have them on everything users commonly ask, and the search feature is easy enuf to use. (In Latest News, Krejt's post regarding the release of 6.12 has that link, and its in many posts. ) While a lot of ppl do read the stickies and use the search feature, its pretty clear many dont. I dont know how much clearer a subject line could be than things like Cant Connect, Dcc problems, Dcc pending, 10053 etc, and yet ppl will post asking that very question.

At the risk of being thrown out for excessive cynicism...

There's an old marketing rule (oops, I mean guideline) that says "you can never underestimate the average intelligence of the general public..." crazy

I think, that a sticky thread in the "latest news" section should be made with this kind of links in it... because I DO use the search function, but you need to know what to look for ;-], if you do not know an exploit exists, why would you go look for it?

this kind of exploit websites should be put on the forums clearly for everyone to view imho
and the "latest news" or "announcement" section of a forum would be the ideal place :-]
