When you connect to a server you sometimes need a password, this is most often the case when connecting to a bouncer.

In mIRC you enter the password in the edit dialogbox and then when you've done that the password is saved there.. this is not very practical if you're not on your own computer, what you'd want mIRC to do is to be able to ask you for the password if you choose something like "ask for password" in the server-edit dialogbox.

Since mIRC now saves the password, it has happend a few times that people I know have logged into my BNC and that kinda sucks wink

Please add this function, it's soo easy to do smile

nah that's not what I meant

you should be able to choose which servers you want mIRC to request password input from (the same way mirc uses password to connect when it's defined in server settings just that it requests it instead). All the servers I use dont need passwords but the bouncers do and I dont want mIRC to request password all the time for servers that dont need it, just for the ones I choose "request password input" which is the missing feature I'm looking for.

thnx anyway m8 smile

Just add the server to your servers.ini file .. mIRC can already handle password protected IRCd's. Since you as a user cannot change the required password for the IRCd, why would you want to be asked repeatedly for the same password?

Bouncers aren't covered in RFC1459 nor should mIRC conform to any non-RFC 3rd party program. If it did the mIRC installer would be huge.

easy, because he wants to secure his mIRC. to disable the ability for other users to use his mIRC to connect to servers which have a password without having to manually /server connect it everytime.

it can be scripted though...

then he can use mIRC's internal password lock in the Options.

or install another mIRC for all other users

but that's not the point here.

I do see something in his idea but it can be scripted already...
